O.C. Uechi-Ryu Karate Dojo
What is Uechi-Ryu Karate?
Uechi-Ryu Karate is a traditional Chinese/Okinawan system of self defense, unique in it's heavy use of circular blocks and upright stances.
The style originated in China and was known as Pangai-Noon (meaning half hard, half soft). Later it was renamed in honor of Kanbun Uechi, an Okinawan who popularized the Art on the island of Okinawa and in Southern Japan.
What is Takeshikai Karate?
Takeshikai Karate is a proxy name for Sensei William J. Corriveau's unique expression and combination of different martial arts. It is not a new style of Karate. Nor does Sensei Corriveau teach a martial art called Takeshikai Karate. It's merely a name to represent the unique expression of Sensei Corriveau and not a sole representation of Uechi-Ryu Karate, Wing Chun Kung Fu, or the many other martial arts that Sensei Corriveau has had the privilege to cross train in.
