Junior Black Belt Program

FOR BLUE BELTS

SPARRING with safety equipment on is smart and good fun, but FIGHTING is never done with safety equipment.

KUMITE is a way that we can

spar WITHOUT safety

equipment.

KYU KATA

(pronounced "Q - KATA")

teaches us the

blocks, punches, and kicks

we will use in

KYU KUMITE.

There are 5 sparring/fighting

combinations in KYU KUMITE.

There are 5 parts to

KYU KATA.

When the word "KYU" is used

in KYU KATA or KYU KUMITE

it means

"under black belt level".

This is the "under black belt level"

FIGHTING Exercise.

To help you learn and practice at home, you can watch the video and print out the
